When I think of writers and books that have been published there are names that stand out and then there are books that some of us will never have the opportunity to read. Its humanly impossible to read every piece of literature out there. Sometimes its a wonder how some of the greats got into their groove. Questions I think of are when did the idea really start for them? That mind blowing realization that one can create a entire new world. Its interesting to think we want to create new worlds when at times real life can be better. This leads to infinite questions about our perceptions of reality and what we really want to have happen in our lives. Yes these are all awesome questions but I’m definitely not looking to go into a philosophical direction! While there are many other questions that can be born from all of this thinking “the groove” is something I consider a moment for a writer to really write. Seems nonsensical in a way but really when you think of just writing its interesting. When does our passion for a hobby turn to a view of work? Is it really an idea of work or is it something else that is causing us to reach “the groove” on a daily basis? My writers block I know starts from over thinking. I start to second guess words, characters, and wonder about different possibilities for plot directions. Now I know an outline and different things can help but overthinking is something I kinda excel at. This doesn’t just pertain to writing when one really considers it too. So many questions that can stem from why we don’t reach “the groove” on a daily basis. Overall I consider my writers block sometimes a gift because it opens the opportunity to step back and look at things from a different viewpoint. So really all of this procrastination can be good if we use it to our advantages. I do feel that the perception of taking steps back is something we are told not to do. The idea of moving forward no matter what is something we call try to do but can’t always make happen. Everyday I try to write a goal of words. Not to many just a little to create movement. Just because I don’t make my daily goal doesn’t mean I’m not revising or rereading though. Which can be just as important. Overall I think whatever it is “the groove” is never the same no matter how significant or insignificant the writing seems to be. It all counts to those we are inspiring around us. So today coffee has inspired my groove but tomorrow it could be something totally new. Which I greatly look forward to discovering.
